HVAC Service Technician

Longhill Energy is pleased to present the opportunity to one lucky HVAC Service Technician to join our small family business. Technician would be responsible for troubleshooting, factory start-up and repairs to Longhill supplied HVAC equipment.  Excellent customer service, communication and organization skills are imperative.

Job Type: Full Time – Salary

Salary range:  To be negotiated

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college.
  • A current driver’s license.
  • A valid and up to date Certificate of Qualification (313A)
  • Valid and up to date Gas 1 certificate is preferred.
  • Valid ODP certificate.
  • Knowledge of equipment, materials and practices of the trade.
  • Knowledge of applicable HVAC/R codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Service and troubleshooting experience.

Desired attributes:

  • Experience with VRF systems is asset.
  • Basic controls knowledge is a must.
  • Professional, courteous and customer service oriented.
  • Read, interpret and maintain drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct performance validation on Longhill products.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of all B52 and B149.20 codes.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.
  • Valid Ontario drivers’ license with clean record.
  • Base knowledge of applicable codes.

The HVAC Service Technician’s duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Technician would be responsible for troubleshooting, factory start-up and repairs to Longhill supplied HVAC equipment.
  • Perform initial start-up of Longhill sold equipment. This includes boilers, air conditioning, humidification, and air handling equipment.
  • Ability to accept assignments on short notice and work within strict deadlines is essential
  • Ability to work independently and provide professional documentation to customers.
  • Repair, replace and adjust worn or broken parts on equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with heating and air conditioning units and related systems.
  • Install motors, thermostats, and humidistats.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of subcontractors.
  • Performing warranty HVAC repairs in commercial settings to air conditioning, heating, and related equipment.
  • Tracking materials used and hours worked.
  • Documenting job progress with photos and detailed descriptions.
  • Identifying system and site deficiencies upon startups and provide solutions.
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients.
  • Conducting all repairs and installation as per building and trade codes.
  • Making recommendations on more extensive HVAC issues.

Working Requirements:

  • Ownership of a reliable vehicle an asset.
  • Bilingualism an asset.
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs, bend, crouch, and climb & you may be required to use ladders or enter small spaces in this position.
